My family and I love our 7-year-old recliner chair. We got it as a wedding present from my wife’s aunt. I guess it could have lasted longer if my younger son weren’t fond of jumping up and down it. Last Saturday, while he and his brother are playing, the chair finally broke. So today, I brought both of them to the furniture shop to buy a new a top recliner.
Before anything else, I had to decide what I’m looking for in a chair.
- How big do I want it to be? Can it fit in the room?
- How much am I willing spend on it?
- Who will be allowed to sit on it?
As for the first question, our old reclining chair was a brown three-seater of about 81x31x40 dimensions. I fit exactly right in our living room. So, I’ll be looking for one of about the same size. I might choose a darker color, however. My sons sometimes carry dirt from playing outside, and it’s hard to remove them from the light-colored chair.
The budget is not much of a problem as I have my savings, but wouldn’t want to spend more than 3000 euro for it. Still, durability is the top priority as my sons are going to be playing around it most of the time. Thus, I focused more on the materials used in making the chair, the frame, the cushion, etc.
While buying our new recliner chair, I tried sitting on it. It was quite comfortable, which is another winning quality. I let my sons sit on it, too. They said they love it better than the old one as it’s softer. However, I guessed they love it more because it’s new.
Anyway, shopping for the new chair was a success. I also got my younger son to promise not to jump on it anymore so that it might last for 10 years or more. Hopefully.
